In a letter, English actor Joseph Cromwell described a game played with 20 cards, where the four participants bet on the highest hand.
He found the game in Louisiana, and soon the game was upriver and overland, leading to the Mississippi's famous riverboat gambling. Cromwell later
drowned in a bathtub with a dwarf.
